At growing-global.com, we serve people in their goals of “growing-global,” in six ways.  We:

  • Mentor, guide and Coach Individuals
  • Facilitate Teams as they explore new strategies and approaches
  • Design and Develop Conferences, workshops and seminars that created integrated global education environments
  • Conduct and Apply Research that adds to knowledge and understanding of trends and issues
  • Speak and Present on topics that provoke fresh thinking
  • Share our Experiences by capturing the sights and sounds of travels, experiences and insights around the globe

Coach Individuals.  Often, the most senior person in an organization is the person responsible for “thinking globally” – and only when this person has developed a vision of what “growing-global” can look like – can the senior team and the rest of the organization develop a plan.  The career backgrounds of growing-global.com principals Mick Yates and Martin Thomas as regional CEO, CFO and President for leading global consumer products companies and international trading concerns.  They know the challenges of shaping strategy and making resource decisions in international markets, and they are called on by CEOs, SVPs of Marketing and other senior leaders for mentoring, guidance and coaching.

Facilitate Teams.  “Growing-global” means have senior teams aligned at home.  Our growing-global.com principals are all skilled at designing and facilitating senior team learning experiences and discussions that align thinking and strategies.  For instance, Martin Thomas recently co-designed and co-led discussions with a senior team of a major organization as they used scenario thinking to explore expansion on a global scale.  Working together, Mick Yates and Patricia Shafer designed and delivered an alignment session for a European consumer database and information provider at a cross-roads in the execution of its strategies for the U.S. market.

Design and Develop Conferences.  Large-group formats such as conferences, seminars and workshops remain an excellent format for people with common interest to come together and explore new ideas.  The challenge, though, is designing learning environments that integrate diverse views; do more than “lecture;” provide hands-on learning experiences; and leave people enabled to put new learning into action.  Mick Yates, Martin Thomas and Patricia Shafer have developed breakthrough conference-style experiences, including the upcoming “Growing Global” conference in the southeast United States.  (Read more)

Conduct and Apply Research. At growing-global.com, we immerse ourselves in the latest research on global trends, but we also add to the body of knowledge by conducting and applying new research.  For example, Mick Yates designed and tested “The 4Es Leadership Framework,” a customizable set of leadership activities that can be used to align global leadership activities. (Read more)  Martin Thomas conducted proprietary research on the relevance of Scenario Planning in turbulent global markets, providing new insights into thinking about the future of potential markets.  (Read more)  Patricia Shafer led a global research initiative called “The World at Work: Men and Women Managers Tell Us What’s Changed and What Still Needs to Change in Organizations” – interviewing managers on five continents and developing new models of leadership and change for multinationals in the 21st century. (Read more)

Speak and Present.  Our “growing-global” principals are available to speak on a number of topics that help individuals, teams and organizations think about the importance of a global outlook, as well as how to “grow-global.”  These topics include:

  • “The World at Work: Insights on Leadership, Change and Globalization” from Multinational Managers on Five Continents”
  • “What Does it Take to Be a Global Leader?”
  • “Developing a Multinational Strategy: In 10 Clear Steps”
  • “Market Selection: Stability?  Risk-Reward?  How Do You Choose?”
  • “Profits vs. Social Responsibility: Achieving a Balance within a Global Strategy”
  • “Global Leaders and Managers: Can They Really Be Developed?”
  • “The Realities of Growing Global: Tales from an International CEO and CFO”

Share Our Experiences.  If a “picture is worth a thousand words,” pictures with sounds must be worth a million.  As growing-global.com principals, we have the opportunity to visit great metropolitan cities as well as some of the most remote stretches of the world.  To add to global understanding, we try to capture these moments in photos, video, and travelogues.  We’re often asked to speak about these experiences, but we also plan to offer outtakes on this website that we call “Field Notes,” which will be available to view in November 2005.
